Compliance Dismissal

Some offenses may be dismissed with proof of compliance and a $10-$20 dismissal fee.

Expired Items

  • Expired Registration: The court may dismiss with $20 fee if registration is renewed by court date (twenty-eight days from date of citation), and you provide a copy of the registration receipt to the court that clearly identifies the vehicle.
  • Expired Driver’s License: The court may dismiss with $20 fee if the license is renewed by court date (twenty-eight days from date of citation), and you provide a copy of your new license to the court no later than due date.

Violate Driver’s License Restriction/Endorsement

  • The court may dismiss with a $10 fee if the driver’s license restriction or endorsement was imposed because of physical condition that was surgically or otherwise medically corrected before the date of the offense, or in error and that is established by the defendant; and the DPS

Removes the restriction or endorsement before the defendant’s first court appearance.

Defective Equipment

The court may dismiss with a $10 fee if the defect is corrected prior to defendant’s court date.  Proof such as a receipt is required.

Fail to do Items

  • Fail to Report Change of Name/Address on Driver’s License: The court may dismiss with a $20 fee if the change of address is filed with Department of Public Safety (DPS) by court date

(twenty-eight days from date of citation).

  • Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility (Insurance): Citations for no proof of insurance will be dismissed at no charge upon presentation to the court of proof that the driver or vehicle was covered by a valid liability insurance policy at the time cited.  The court will verify insurance coverage was in place.
  • Fail to display Driver’s License: The court may dismiss with a $10 fee upon presentation of a driver’s license that was valid at the time citation was issued.
